come @ me? Submitoh a Mesmer…
Fort Aspenwood: Kurz Side
MESMER!?
Recommended Build: Ever since the nerf of Visions of Regret it seems that the majority of mesmers on the Luxon side have some sort of Wastrels/Chaos Storm bar. I don’t blame them though, it’s quick, effective and if paired with a quality elite skill, it can be OP. :O
How do you combat this then? `(o.0)/ Well, remember it’s not you VS. the other mesmer. GO back to RA if you like it like that. Even if you kill em’, his/her turtle will still be there launching enormous rocks at you. And god forbid there also happens to be a healer nearby to.
THEREFOR..don’t bring wastrels’ skills if your kurzick, Human players will question your mindset and call you names :). (unless you plan on capping mines..which is unusual since most mesmers don’t bring any form of ims (( if you do, more power to ya!))…, anywho, equip a skill that will impede their chain. First skill that comes to mind is of course Diversion. If you wanna be real mean you can bring Arcane Languor or steal a random skill with Arcane Larceny/Thievery. These are effective against healers as well. If your decent with interrupts then you might wanna consider bring P-block. Aim for Chaos Storm. A skill like Blackout is immensely useful in most cases. Backfire is always helpful too. Your pretty much a typical Dom-mes…against the right team, you can be an MVP.
Hold on, duh, It’s good to have a skill to heal yourself too. Ether Feast is perfect - remember to weapon swap for 40/40% chance of cast and recharge. Enchantments are everywhere during a match as well, so bring some sort of removal. I enjoy Drain Enchantment for the energy and HP gain. Shatter Enchantment is useful too. especially on MM’s with Dark Bond.
I would also, as an honorable mention consider bring illusion magic. Frustration covered by a skill like Shrinking armor or phantom pain will prove useful. Would be smart to equip anti-melee skills just incase your luxon footys’ come for you.. Then, add Distortion and signet of clumsiness. along with a self heal and again, some form of enchant removal this is looking like a useful bar. Elite of your choice and no rez skill, Whenever i run illusion magic i like to bring signet of humility. (ie. mantra of concentraion + sig. of humility)
Sig. of humility > Shadow Form. it can change the outcome of a match if you can prevent massive DPS against green gate and gunther.
Much like as a ranger, teamwork is key. Call your skills, Hex backline, be very aware of opponent frontline. Be smart.
Armor:You’ll be a squishy target no matter what, Go balls to the wall. You’ll probably die alot anyway. Me personally i stack Prodigy’s insignia’s when i run Illusion magic and i stack Virtuoso Insig. when i run Domination. +50 rune, +10hp, -20% cripple, +1 fast cast, +1 inspiration, and (+1+1) headpiece depends on build obviously.
MAKE SURE YOUR FAST CASTING IS AT LEAST LIKE….8 Q.Q
Weapons: typical 40/40 set’s for multiple magic attributes. Probably will never need your High-set. Depends on your build. If your constantly low on energy add skills accordingly. Bring a shield and (sword/axe/spear) the +60HP will help. (+5 energy if you want). Your pride on the line? bring all forms of defensive sets. Helps with Shield Bash too..eh?
You have a healer on your team?
nice! much like a warrior would lineback, you also can disrupt pressure against your ally. This will almost always happen when entire team is backed into green gate and your forced to tank entire luxon team until gods’ vengeance is completed. Good luck…. -_-
Your role against turtles?
Well, IF you do happen to bring wastrels skills and chaos storm, then you will prove useful here. Illusion magic (degen) works fantastic on turtles…If your bar supports none of these then, help teammates by pressuring healer. being a mesmer can sometimes put you at a disadvantage because your build might rely on help from teammates.
In closing..if you choose to play mesmer just know (like all professions, but this one definitely) it’s a role of the dice. You could get a good team that follows your ping’s or a useless team full of wammo’s capping command points. Patience is a virtue.
Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun?? Feel free to run RoJ Smite bar, or go HAM with a fire ele bar. You’ll be tough to ‘rupt and be doing DPS yourself instead of being dependant on your team helping you pressure.
Happy z-key farming…

Ke$ha!
Sup Ranger…
Kurz Side: Defend the fort while Gunther takes his sweet time completing Gods’ Vengeance.
Your a R/Mo rolling Crip-shot….what do you do???
Build: (See previous pic)
Armor: I personally have +(x)armor while in a preparation on all body parts. Sup vigor Rune, +1 Wilderness, +1 Marksmanship, head piece has a +1 Expertise and the remaining part is just a +10 hp rune.
14-Expertise/ 10-Marksmanship/ 10 Wilderness Survival/ 3 Protection Prayers
Weapons? YES! you’ll need a Crippling modded recurve bow or Fortitude, Poisonous Shortbow of Shelter. Vamp. Longbow of Warding. Shield sets depend on build. bcuz i have mending touch i usually bring +10 vs. all elements and melee types. But bring -20% Crippling if your m-touch gets ‘rupted. Don’t forget the +30hp, again always usuaful to have a +60hp while hexed shield. You are a ranger and your gonna be hard to kill. This makes it harder.
Spears? i bring a spear but you can bring sword or axe if you’d prefer, +5 energy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and a “Don’t Think Twice” mod. but +30hp good to have too. Don’t need to bring +7 vs Melee cuz you shouldn’t put yourself in those situations. +7 vs elemental dmg is best.
The match has begun :O
- This bar lacks DPS so it’s smart not to go cap a mine right away (unless you go to the ledge) Longbow range adds hit points. Even then, your putting yourself in harm against all opponents who happen to be on that side. Be Smart kiddo!
- Your job is to assist in the kill not to kill by yourself. Common sense. If you wanna kill something bring Burning Arrow or run a different type of ranger.
- You have a healer on your team? help him/her by Crippling opponent frontline or ‘rupting key spells (Diversion, Shame, Soul Bind, Migraine etc..) And if you can please call your ‘rupts in chat. This helps your entire team. Since your in randomway and have no vent unless your syncing.
- Your role against the turtles? Depends on build…don’t be crip-shottin’ him to death..this will waste 4 minutes of your life..That elite is what i bring now, but if your just starting off or want to make up for DPS your opponents don’t have then bring Burning Arrow. At beginning of match when you teleport to middle of fortress walk up to the highest point and wait for orange turtle to crawl by. This is super effective if orange team doesn’t have a healer in range.
- I brought Troll Ungent? YES! this is a amazing skill that most rangers don’t know how to use effectively. Use it when your health drops to 80% not when your about to die…maintain it if your in the middle of choas. be aware of ‘rupts. Fake casting is recommended.
- ..how do i protect my Elite skill from being Diverted or Complicated or D-shotted? This one will take practice but it pays off huge. use your F9 inventory box whenever your using an attack skill like Burning Arrow and you are suddenly come upon a diversion or see a ranger sitting on you, swap Bows from inventory rather then from your 4 weapon sets.
- Oh, one more thing…Apply Poison..when your using this skill throw in a natural stride or LR so that opposing ranger won’t d-shot you, therefor making you useless for 40 seconds…Because spreading conditions is something maybe only a necro can do better..so take advantage of this!
- Your part of the midline so don’t hang around your backline, Condition party in the frontline, kite back to mid- spread moar conditions, tab to healer, do your best to anticipate and by god you’ll interupt something.
- Interupts? We all know D-shot is lethal so don’t waste it, however there are times where things get hectic and you have no choice but to fire away a random ‘rupt every now and then. It’s ok, just don’t spam it. Thats what Savage shot is for…Should i interrupt a melee player? yes- Warriors can be pressuring your healer, don’t count adrenaline, wait for the War to approach your monk on full and send over a d-shot, you could hit Devastating hammer, or shock or even better Crushing Blow or dismember. Same goes Wastrels Collapse Sin, - 1/2 second after this is used dont’ be afraid to send over a ‘rupt their way.
- Counting? Ah yes, Works best with magebane shot. or else your bending luck that you’d land a hit on an almost ending Guardian that last 9 seconds cuz the prot-monk has a +20 enchant staff. I’d still d-shot them at 7 seconds. High reward if it lands. However I find this most useful against mesmers with Ether Feast. 8 second recharge i think, so count that shit..they will most likely use it immediately if their about to die.
- Aggro Circle- yes Cycle through Shortbow, Recurve Bow, and keep an eye on healer racing to heal an ally, once they break aggro circle of that dying ally they’ll be forced to use a skill, This is the best way to rupt’ Qspells like infuse or aegis. You know it’s coming, are you good enuff to rupt’ it? also helps with turtles. You see a healer running to dying turtle Cripple him/her and bodyblock all the way. It can make or a break a match in some cases.
- Utility: You have mending touch..use it! don’t forget about your teammates! they could use your help too. especially when your running amber and you see your him/her crippled. This is also completely necessary if your monk is Dazed.
Disco..this seems like alot of responsibility…how is this fun??
-If you like winning you’ll understand….and
-You’ll gain respect amongst your fellow teamates and be seen as a “quality player” in low-end pvp, not bad. Always feels good to be a high ping victim or get congratulated by PM after match. Don’t let your ego get too big. This isn’t as competitive as it once was. Remember..the game itself is considered dead by all high-end pvp veterans. :)

After years of AB i feel it’s time to get into this whole Fort Aspenwood thing. It’s a shame indeed because i loved AB, was intense at times, competitive and overall loads of fun. But it’s dead—SUPER DEAD NOW. Im sure most of you know what FA is but for those who don’t or who might be interested in low-end PvP (after all these years?) i will spill my knowledge/opinion on what to do and what not to do. We’ll start with the Ranger. Njoy!
